Knife Fight
Knife Fighting is a safe combat sport that helps participants develop concentration, quick decision-making, strategic thinking, and athleticism to best their opponents in a highly dynamic environment. The knives used in this sport are made of pliable rubber, and all participants wear protective gear on their head and body to ensure safety.
In September 2013, the All-Russian public organization “Russian Federation of Knife Fighting” was established with the primary goal of promoting the recognition of sports knife fighting as an official sport in the Russian Federation. Sports fights are conducted using special equipment and sports knives that incorporate an electronic system for strike fixation, which was created and patented in Russia.
People from various backgrounds participate in knife fighting, including those who already practice martial arts and those for whom this is their first experience with martial arts. Participants come from diverse professions, such as designers, lawyers, builders, and programmers. Although knife fighting as a sport also attracts women, on average, there are significantly fewer female participants, with about 9 out of 10 fighters being men.
Given the serious crime situation in the Russian Federation, especially in remote regions, many young people carry knives as a means of self-defense. This context may contribute to the interest in knife fighting as a sport and the development of related skills.
